After the swearing-in ceremony, the Planning Department will announce the housing allocations available for the year, pursuant to the “1% Growth Limit.” As of January 1, 2018, Golden had 8606 housing units. The 1% limit was actually cut to 0.9% a few years ago, so the number of new housing allocations available this year will be 8606 x 0.9% = 77 new dwelling units. The meeting packet includes a memo that outlines how many units have been added each year since 2000.
