There’s Always Something Happening in Golden!

Several holiday events are underway.  In additon to the Holiday Art Market at Foothills Art Center, you can check out the Holiday Craft Fair at the Golden Gate Grange.  They’ll have Christmas and Thanksgiving decorations, jewelry, quilted items, soap, lotions, homemade candy, handmade cards, photography, art, plants, candles, books by local authors, hand thrown pottery, alpaca items. Gourmet coffee, snacks and lunch will be available.  The Craft Fair will run from 9 till 4 at the Golden Gate Grange, at 25201 Golden Gate Canyon Road, just 4 miles west of Highway 93.

Heritage Square Music Hall has begun showing their very last play:  Merry Christmas to All, and to All a Goodbye.  This is a fun musical comedy, and includes some of their favorite songs and sketches from the past 25 years.  The Heritage Square Children’s Theater is also showing a Christmas play:  Santa Needs a Holiday.  Youngsters in the audience are often invited to join the cast on the stage.  If you have young children in your life, be sure to take them to this play…it’s your very last chance!  See the calendar for specific performance times.

The Railroad Museum is offering tours of several rail cars that are normally kept closed.  It’s a good day to visit!  Tours and train rides will be offered from 10 to 4.

The VFW (15625 West 10th Avenue) will be packing holiday care packages for military families today from 2-4.  All are welcome to join them in packing the boxes, and of course, contributions are welcome to help pay the shipping costs.

The Colorado Mountain Club is hosting their 21st Annual Backcountry Bash, beginning at 5:30.  This is a fund-raiser, with proceeds going to backcountry conservation and education of those who would use the backcountry to winter recreation.  See cmc.org/bash for more information.
