City of Golden Press Release:

Golden, Colo. – October 7, 2012 – A Golden restaurant is a complete loss after an early morning fire.  Just after 1:20 a.m., Golden Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call from a passerby who reported smoke coming out of the roof of Tequila’s Mexican Restaurant, 17535 South Golden Road.

When firefighters arrived, there was heavy fire coming from the roof.  Golden Fire, West Metro Fire, Fairmount Fire and Pleasant View Fire all responded to the scene.  Because the fire was in the roof, the building was not safe to enter so firefighters had to fight the blaze from the outside.  Crews had to cut through the building with chainsaws to try to access the areas on fire.  It took several hours to get the blaze completely out.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and because the building is not safe to enter, it will be several days before investigators can get in to search for the cause.  There were no injuries reported.
