The forecast says we’ll reach the high 50s today.  Bring your lunch to Lions Park at noon, and join a new group, Golden United, in a conversation about Golden’s character and its future.

High 50s may be a lovely temperature for a picnic, but it sounds a little nippy for kayaking in Clear Creek.  Nevertheless, the valiant souls in this year’s Golden Games will be paddling around Clear Creek all day.  Take a walk along the creek and cheer them on!

The City will be collecting any junk that you want to unload at the City Shops (1300 Catamount Drive – map) from 8-3:30 today.  Among the items they’ll accept are household trash, electronic waste, tires, tree brush, mattresses & box springs.  They’ll provide unlimited paper shredding, and they’ll recycle metal.  DO NOT bring propane tanks, batteries, pharmaceuticals, or hazardous waste.  You MUST live within the Golden city limits to take advantage of Golden Pride Days.  Learn more about this popular annual program.

Jobs:  King Soopers is having a hiring event today from 11-4.

The VFW (map) is having a Casino Night tonight from 6-10.  If you are looking for something to do, come on down and play some craps, roulette, blackjack or Texas Hold ’em. Plus, the bar will be serving drinks for a little more than half of what you are accustomed to.  Get one raffle ticket at the door; more tickets for sale all night:  $20 / 2nd Buy-in $10
