This afternoon’s pumpkin-carving class at Foothills Art Center has been cancelled.

Dinosaur Ridge is hosting the final Dinosaur Discovery Day for the year.  Guides will be stationed at the world-famous track site and other fossil sites along the Dinosaur Ridge Trail. At the Visitor Center try sifting for microfossils, dinosaur track painting, the Allosaurus vertebrae boulder, a life-size Iguanodon, a dinosaur dig for kids, a life-size Stegosaurus, dinosaur track painting PLUS check out the new Goniopholis skull, Brachiosaurus skull, and life-size juvenile Camarasaurus in Trek Through Time. Several other activities and booths will be associated with Earth Science Week and International Astronomy Day including gold panning, metal detecting, solar observing, searching for iron meteorites, and telling time with a sundial. Register for door prizes and try the scavenger hunt. It’s all free!

As part of the year-long “One Book.  One Golden” program, the library (1019 10th St.) is offering a workshop this afternoon from 2 to 4 on writing memoirs.  If you’ve ever considered telling your own story, or just been interested in how others go about it, attend the workshop!
