Olde Golden Christmas kicks off today, with a parade at 11 AM on Washington Avenue.  Since this is Small Business Saturday, today’s parade includes lots of Golden’s small businesses.  The Grand Marshals will be the 2014 Golden Cultural Alliance Sweetheart, Barbara Haywood, as well as Forever Sweethearts, Hal and Helen Leith.

Come downtown early, and bring a Christmas stocking.  Many of the merchants are participating in “Santa’s Stocking Shuffle.”  If you come in before the parade with a stocking, they’ll give you a small gift, candy, or a coupon.  Check the list to see which merchants are participating.

After the parade, stick around for free carriage rides and Newfoundland dog cart rides. Meet Santa Claus at Avenue Gifts (bring your camera)!

At 1 PM, the Foss family will celebrate the 100th anniversary of their building at 13th and Washington.  The Foss Drug Store stood there for more than 90 years, and now it is the home of eleven small businesses.  Help them celebrate, and afterwards, tour the building!

From 10-2, local author Coni Billings will be signing copies of her latest book, Redemption’s Bell.  This historical novel is set in pioneer-era Golden!
