The School of Mines is celebrating the grand opening of the new Clear Creek Athletics Complex this afternoon.  It’s open to the public starting at 1:30.  They’re offering tours from 1:30-3:30, and at 3:30, former Mayor Marv Kay will cut the ribbon on the new Marv Kay stadium!  Hang around and watch football practice starting at 4, then at 5:30, head to Kafadar Commons for the Celebration of Mines.  More than 100 student organizations will have tents and booths set up on the commons, so it’s a great opportunity to learn about and celebrate Mines.

The last First Friday Street Fair of the year happens tonight on Washington Avenue from 5-9.  The Buffalo Rose, Tin Star Smokehouse, Saffron Grill, and Gold Mine Cupcakes will be selling food.  MillerCoors, Coors Distributing, Turquoise Mesa Winery, and Barrels & Bottles will sell beverages, and the Funk It Up Band will be playing all evening.
