Flags in Parfet Park - Veteran's Day

Submitted by Elizabeth Hilliard

Ever wondered where all those flags come from that are displayed around Golden on certain holidays? The Kiwanis Club of Golden and Scout Troop 130 has been providing American flags to residents and businesses in the City of Golden for 23 years! They are currently taking orders for subscriptions to the 2024 American Flag Project. You can order as many flags as you want for $30 per flag per year. They’ll provide and install a pole receptacle in front of your property. Five times a year the Scouts will come plant a beautiful big flag in front of your property complete with a salute, on the following dates:

MEMORIAL DAY – May 27th, 2024
FLAG DAY – June 14, 2024
INDEPENDENCE DAY – July 4, 2024
LABOR DAY – September 2, 2024
VETERAN’S DAY – November 11, 2024.

Please make your payment no later than May 3, 2024 in order to get on the schedule for the first holiday. Checks can be made out to and mailed to:

For those interested in participating in this project, both the Scout Troop 130 is looking for more youth involvement, and the Kiwanis Club is seeking members and volunteers. See Kiwanisofgolden.org for more information on the latter.
