The Golden Library is starting a Young Reader’s Club, beginning tonight at 6:30. Each month, participants will read a book and let the library know what they thought of it. The meetings will include activities, games, and fun. Try it out tonight! For more information, contact the library at 303-235-5275. The Library is located at 1019 10th Street.
The GURA board meets tonight at 6:30 in City Council chambers. Their topics include:
1) The negotiations for the new Natural Grocers store, to be built where the Golden Bowl now stands, are nearing completion. The new development may include a community garden and a mural on the Ford Street side.
2) A developer is interested in the two lots available at 12th and Jackson and 13th and Jackson. Negotiations on that project are delayed by parking concerns as well as concerns by adjacent property owners regarding this particular developer.
3) GURA is also considering a project to improve West Colfax by providing sidewalks and bike lanes.
4) GURA may help fund changes to the downtown streetscape.
5) GURA hopes to make Miners Alley more appealing for retail and restaurant development. As one step towards that goal, the businesses are requesting financial assistance in moving their dumpsters from behind their stores into the public parking lot across the alley.
