The Golden Writing Circle will meet at the library from 6-7:30 tonight. This circle is open to all writers no matter skill level or writing interests. We offer feedback, critiquing, and general discussion. Rather than a class, we are a writing support circle—offering encouragement, inspiration, and motivation. Suitable for adults.
Tonight’s Golden Beer Talk will feature a Master Gardener who will discuss high altitude gardening. 6:30-8 at Windy Saddle Cafe.
The City will hold a public open house tonight from 6-8 at Mitchell Elementary (map) to discuss the Complete Streets project on North Washington Avenue. Complete Streets means making roads less “friendly” to cars and more friendly to bikes & pedestrians. The work on Washington Avenue from 10th Street to Highway 93 will commence later this year.
Tomorrow night, from 5:30-7, the City will host a meeting at the community center to discuss the School of Mines planning process as it relates to the surrounding neighborhoods. As a state institution, Mines holds that it is not bound by city planning. At the same time, it would prefer to be a good neighbor. The City is seeking public input regarding the relationship between “town and gown.” Tom Atkins of the Golden Historic Neighborhoods Group has drafted a proposed Intergovernmental Agreement, which is posted in our “News About Golden” section.
