Red Rocks Community College (map) is hosting an all-day event today, “Celebrating the Brave Men and Women of World War II.” They will have re-enactors, lectures, World War II-vintage military vehicles and civilian automobiles, a USO show, museum exhibits, and a FLYOVER BY WORLD WAR II FIGHTER PLANES! The Public Art Commission meets this morning at 9, in the Public Works building. They will discuss policies for maintaining our public art and for de-accessioning pieces. They will also discuss a vision statement to guide future public art decisions.
City Council meets tonight at 6:30 in City Council Chambers. Community & Economic Development Director Steve Glueck will provide an update on the Pay As You Throw trash program, and the Mayor will invite public comment on the subject. Public hearings will be held for conveying a public right of way to Camping World, to enable some expansion on their part; on raising transcription fees for the municipal court; on raising the fee for dog licenses, and on two ordinances that will enable us to install water fountains and drinking water stations on City or County property. The meeting will be broadcast live on cable channel 8 as well as through the city website.
