Transportation Plan, Knife Sale, Music

6:30PM The Planning Commission will meet this evening in City Council Chambers. They will discuss and accept public comment on the Transportation Master Plan and decide whether to recommend that City Council approve the plan.

The Plan is largely focused on adding bicycle and pedestrian facilities to our infrastructure. It suggests separated bike lanes on Ford and Jackson Street (Trade-offs: On-Street parking removal and modifications to curb extensions) and a Bicycle Boulevard on East Street from 13th to Grand Court (p. 34). It recommends a city-wide sidewalk completion program and more traffic calming.

The Plan projects that our areas of growth (north Golden, Downtown, Coors Technology Center, and south Golden) will see an additional 1800 residences and 6800 jobs in the next 20 years (p.10). It suggests that the City provide incentives to reduce parking for new development (p. 48). See tonight’s meeting packet for more information and to review the Transportation Master Plan.
