Wet Day in 1964 – Colorado Transcript Photo, taken from the northeast corner of 12th and Washington – enlarge

As we head into another hot day, I thought you’d enjoy seeing cooler, wetter days of yore–thus, this photo from the August 13, 1964 Colorado Transcript.

August 14, 2018 – Donald Tallman – enlarge

Fast-forwarding 54 years, here’s a picture that Donald Tallman, the now-retired Executive Director of the Railroad Museum, took as he was leaving Barrels and Bottles. He reported that the water was almost up to the door of his Subaru Forester. “It gave me an excuse to have another beer to wait for the water level to subside a bit before wading out to the car.”

Thanks to the Golden History Museum for providing the online cache of historic Transcripts, and to the Golden Transcript for documenting our history since 1866!
