At your convenience:
Remember the Great Golden Trivia Race that the Chamber held last Saturday? The app is still live until 3PM today–so you can do it yourself, just for fun! Start by downloading the map. Then follow these directions from the Chamber:

  • First, our Trivia hunt utilizes an app that you can download onto your phone called Scavify. It is helpful to download it advance. Want to create your own competition? Then have others that you know download it too and you can compete against one another. Or, just challenge yourself to see how many points you can get. It is up to you!
  • Once the app has been downloaded, you can find the trivia challenge. The name of the challenge is The Great Golden Trivia Race
  • Use the attached map to help you. It really does make a difference and makes the experience better if you use the map! The map has stars on it to show where clues are located. Using the map will help you know where to go and then you can try to figure out which clue on the app goes to which point on the map.

Today and tomorrow are the last two days to do the Golden Gallop. Run or walk, do it any time you want, anywhere you want. Sign up here….

Quaintance Block from Google Maps – Click to enlarge

I’m sure you’ve noticed the lovely brick building at 805 13th Street. You may be surprised to learn that this isn’t its original location.

It was constructed in 1911 at the corner of 13th and Washington. The photo above, taken on November 18th, 1918, shows the building at its original spot at the corner.

In 1923, the building was moved west, to make way for a Conoco gas station at the corner of 13th and Washington.

Thanks to Preston Driggers for the research that uncovered these dates!
