CITY MEETING
6-6:30 City Council Study Session of City Response to Homelessness @ City Hall
City Staff will apprise Council on the City’s actions to respond to homelessness. Here’s the short version:
Immediate actions being taken include ensuring laws are followed and ordinances are enforced, creating meaningful engagement with people experiencing homelessness, preserving naturally occurring affordable housing through eviction prevention and maintaining funding for support to help people maintain employment.
Intermediate and longer term actions being taken include continuing to pursue creation of Pallet Shelters as a temporary measure, strengthening regional partnerships with established service providers for homelessness to maximize care coordination and resource allocation, seeking opportunities to fund the creation of additional shelter beds with partners in the region and partnering on the expansion of transitional, supportive and affordable housing for a broader range of income levels locally, regionally and state-wide. 6:30PM City Council Regular Business Meeting @ City Hall
Tonight’s consent agenda (no discussion unless specifically requested by a Councilor) includes the following:
Appointing Travis Abbott to the Sustainability Board.
Approving an agreement the Colorado Dept. of Transportation to procure traffic signal equipment for downtown intersections.
Approving an amendment to an agreement with the County to align dates.
Setting October 10th for the a public hearing to change rear setback requirements for the residential section on the (former) Kilgroe property at the north end of town.
Proclamations
Hispanic Heritage Month, September 15-October 15
National Public Lands Day, September 23
National Drive Electric Week, September 22-October 1
Energy Efficiency Day, October 4
Indigenous Peoples Day, October 9
The Sustainability Manager will report on the City’s plan to transition to an all-electric fleet of vehicles.
They will consider adopting the new Arts and Culture Master Plan.
They will consider an appeal to the Planning Commission’s decision to disallow a major adjustment which would allow a new home (map) to exceed to total floor area allowed by zoning (by 520 square feet). They began this discussion at the last meeting but delayed the decision until an odd number of Councilors were present, so they could have a tie-breaking vote.
They were scheduled to hold public hearings on a proposed annexation at the north end of town, but City staff and the applicant will be asking that the hearings be delayed until October 24th.
They will adjourn to Executive Session (no public, no cameras) to discuss the same annexation mentioned above.
To make public comment in person, be at the meeting at 6:30PM. To submit written comments, send them to PublicComment@cityofgolden.net by 3PM.

GOLDEN HISTORY MOMENT
COORS @ 150
According to Coors: A Rocky Mountain Legend, the Coors mansion was built by brewery founder Adolph Coors as a present to his wife in 1890. It was constructed with pieces of a dance pavilion and beer garden, which had operated on the brewery grounds, but had been closed for many years.
There were originally three cottages for family members, but they were demolished to make way for brewery expansions. The mansion itself was moved about 450 feet in 1962 to allow for a brewery addition.
The mansion remains on the brewery grounds, and is visible from Highway 58.
