Solar Eclipse

The much-anticipated solar eclipse will happen this morning.  According to timeanddate.com, it will begin at 10:23AM, peak at 11:47AM, and end at 1:14PM.  DON’T LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE SUN!  We want all currently-sighted people in Golden to remain sighted.

The Golden Library is holding a viewing party from 10:30-1, with a limited number of solar viewing glasses and pinhole viewers to share.  The glasses are in SHORT SUPPLY, so the ones they have are for use at the library.  If the weather doesn’t cooperate, they’ll be set up inside to watch NASA’s live stream of the event.

The Library will also have a class on Social Networking (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.) from 2:30-4 today.  You might want to call ahead of time (303-235-5275), to make sure they have enough students to offer the class.

The Downtown Development Authority meets tonight at 6:30 in City Council Chambers.  The Board will adjourn to Executive Session following approval of the minutes and then reconvene for the regular business meeting.  Topics for discussion include potential tax increment financing for the Buffalo Rose, Washington Avenue complete streets project, 8th Street streetscape project, and Prospector Alley.

There will be a meeting tomorrow night at 6PM at the Community Center to discuss planned changes to Washington Avenue north of downtown.

There will also be a meeting tomorrow night in Parfet Park, starting at 6PM to promote tolerance and unity.  The Golden Unity Rally is sponsored and organized by Golden United.  They will have several speakers and then sing songs of unity.
