City Council to Vote on Vaping/Tobacco Age, Ballot Issues, and Coors Property Purchase

Snow day by Dave Powers

5:30PM City Council meets early–at 5:30–this evening, but will adjourn immediately into executive session so they can discuss the purchase of the Coors property in Goosetown. The regular meeting will begin at 6:30. They will vote on whether to approve the Crosswalk Manual that the Mobility and Transportation Advisory Committee has developed. They will also vote on the contract to hire consultants to rewrite our zoning codes. They will vote on an ordinance to raise the age required to buy vape and tobacco products from 18 to 21.

They will then vote on whether to support several ballot issues. Jeffco Ballot Issue 1A would allow the County to invest revenue collected beyond current state limits for county services. Proposition CC will allow the state to invest revenue collected beyond current state limits for state and local transportation projects and K-12 and higher education. Proposition DD would legalize and tax sports betting to fund state water projects.

Finally, they will consider a sixth amendment to the contract to purchase the Coors property.

See the details on any of these subjects by reading tonight’s meeting packet. If you have any opinions about the crosswalk manual, rewrite of our zoning code, age change for vaping and tobacco, ballot issues, or the purchase of the Coors property, contact your representatives or send a message to citycouncil@cityofgolden.net.
