City Council and Concerns about Hippies

6:30PM City Council has a study session tonight in City Council Chambers. They will discuss a new handbook for board and commission members, as well as the process they will use for upcoming board and commission member interviews. They will also review the City Council Rules of Procedure. After the Study Session, they will hold an Executive Session (no camera, closed to the public) to discuss the possibility of forming an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) with the School of Mines.

Local band Wildermiss is playing at the Buffalo Rose tonight at 8PM.

In January of 1971, Golden City Council passed a rezoning ordinance to grant Heritage Square the right to include limited manufacturing facilities. The request was made on behalf of two craft groups, including one that made ice cream. Councilman Frank Leek expressed the fear that this change might attract “an undesirable ‘hippie element.'”
