The Lookout Mountain Nature Center will hold their annual Wildflower Festival today from 10AM-4PM. Celebrate the incredible diversity and importance of native wildflowers through fun activities for the whole family. Explore stations on wildflowers and pollinators, learn to identify invasive weeds, enjoy a wildflower hike, and browse the native plants available for sale. Admission is FREE and registration is not required.
Please drop by any time during the festival to enjoy the various activities. Wildflower hikes at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. Hikes will take place on our Forest Loop trail, an easy but rocky trail with a moderate uphill climb. Wildflowers hikes are an hour in length. All other activities are ongoing. The majority of the festival is outside so please wear appropriate clothing and bring water and snacks as needed.
This is the final day for the Golden Music Festival. The gates will open at 10. At 10:20, the Westside Flyers Violin Ensemble (an amazingly talented group of local youngsters) will play, followed by Dr. Harlan’s Amazing Bluegrass Tonic at 11, Running Out Of Road at 12:15, and Golden’s own Thunder & Rain at 1:30. Bring a picnic, or buy lunch from the on-site vendors!
I’m sorry to say that this afternoon’s season finale Jefferson Symphony concert has been cancelled, due to an emergency in the conductor’s family. They will play the planned-for Mahler at their first concert in the fall. Learn more on their website.
