When you picture a wild west town, you’ll probably include a range of stock characters–prospectors and miners, gamblers and preachers, cowboys and Indians, farmers and ranchers, desperados and lawmen, schoolmarms and medicine men…early Golden had them all.
Tomorrow (Saturday the 24th) from 2-3:30, Barb Warden will present a Brief History of 19th Century Golden. This is a good chance to learn about Golden’s beginnings. Hear about a time when duels, shootouts, and lynchings were commonplace in Golden; when heavy industry was warmly welcomed, and when we desperately wanted GROWTH!
This is the first presentation of the newly-formed Golden History Roundtable. This lecture series will be held once a month at the Golden library. All meetings of the Roundtable will be free and open to the public.
