What’s Happening with ‘What’s Happening in Golden’–and also What’s Happening Today and Tomorrow

In early April, I wrote a note explaining that What’s Happening in Golden? was not produced or sponsored by the City. I remarked that I pay the costs of producing and hosting this blog out of pocket. That cost has been partially offset by a long-running daily blog that the city has sponsored–Golden Business News. Both blogs have appeared daily on the Goldentoday.com home page.

Golden Business News was started in 2011, to support our local businesses. The program was perennially popular with both the merchants and the audience, but the City staff wanted a City employee to run the program, and wanted to focus more on business-to-business, so Golden Business News ends today.

What’s Happening in Golden? goes to a larger audience than the Business News did, and I plan to keep writing it. I think it’s good for the Golden community to have a single source of information that covers civic, cultural, school and business events all in one place.

The loss of the City contract does put me in a financial bind. I have asked a few of my supporters to sponsor the month of June to the tune of $100 each.  If you would like to support June or a future month, please let me know!  I also plan to set up a voluntary subscription form for people who would like to make smaller, recurring monthly contributions.

This seems like a good time to check in with my audience. Do you have any suggestions as to content or frequency? Should I cut back to posting weekly? Are there topics that you think I should drop–city meetings, Chamber events, live music listings, school events, lectures, etc?  What do you specifically want me to keep? Tell me what you think! barb@goldentoday.com.
