Recall downtown as it was last summer, then think what you want for this summer. Do you want less parking? More parking? Remote parking with bus service? Restaurants occupying the parking lanes? Do you want the streets closed more often or less often? Tonight’s open house is your chance to weigh in on these issues.

Golden History Moment

10 Years Ago this Week
Here’s what was happening Golden this week in 2013.

January 31, 2013
Several of the museums were opening new exhibits. Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum opened “Surface Design – hand dyeing, painting, and stamping.” The Golden History Museum opened their “Face to Face” exhibit, a celebration of the Museum’s 75th birthday. They featured 15 larger-than-life portraits of legendary people of Golden. Many of them attended the reception. Foothills Art Center had an ongoing exhibit called Three Masters of Colorado Woodworking.

February 1, 2013
The downtown merchants were celebrating First Friday, with special late shopping hours and refreshments in the stores, and free carriage rides through the historic downtown.

February 3, 2013
This was Super Bowl Sunday, so most of the bars were showing the game. Miners Alley Playhouse was performing Mrs. Mannerly, which they described as “a ridiculously funny show about the GREAT Jeffrey Hatcher’s memories growing up in etiquette class. It will make you cry with laughter!”

Monday night was Scrambowl at the Golden Bowl. This was a fund-raiser, organized by the Chamber, to help pay for holiday lighting along South Golden Road.

February 5, 2013
