Warm Socks for Cold Feet

The #1 thing most needed by homeless men, women and children is NEW socks. Drop off unused socks during the month of November at the Golden Visitors Center (map), Golden City Hall (map), and participating churches and schools.


Veterans Day

Veterans Day is always observed on November 11th.  That date was set when the Armistice for World War I was signed on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month (11AM, November 11th), 1918.  This year, November 11th falls on a Saturday.  The Federal Holiday (including no mail delivery) will be observed on Friday the 10th.

There are several observances planned in Golden.

Friday November 10th
Veterans Day Flag-Raising Ceremony at Bell Middle School, 7:25-7:55AM
Veterans Day Flag-Raising Ceremony at the School of Mines, 7:40-7:55 at Guggenheim Hall.
Breakfast for Veterans at Golden High School, 8:30AM. All veterans are welcome for food and entertainment. Call 303-982-4200 for more information and to RSVP.

Saturday November 11th

Veterans Day Beer Fest at VFW Post 4171 (map) $20 pre-sale (includes a special mug) and $25 at the door. Learn more...

Veterans Day Chili Cook-Off and Musical Salute at the Applewood Valley United Methodist Church (map).  Featuring the music programs of AVUMC performing patriotic favorites and classics of American folk music.
