Spontaneous gathering in 1918 at 13th and Washington, celebrating the end of World War I
Today, November 11th, is Veterans Day. Originally called Armistice Day, to commemorate the cessation of hostilities at the end of World War I, this holiday was renamed “Veterans Day” in 1954, to include the veterans of World War II and all other wars.
Most Federal and County offices are closed today, and there will be no mail delivery.
Dave Powers, Korean War Veteran, and friends!
Thank you, all veterans, for your service!
M Update: Last week, I reported on the M on Mount Zion, explaining why it had gone dark. Last night, Dan Dupuis from Blue Key at the Colorado School of Mines sent this update:
We went up yesterday and I found that the control system was working. Mines Facilities said that a tree fell on the power lines on Tuesday night, causing the control power to be lost. At least now the M is lit, even if it’s red.
Today, Facilities checked out the bulbs on the M to do a count of the functional white bulbs. They will be replacing them as soon as we find a bulb supplier.
Thanks Dan!
