Visit Bill & Louisa at the Buffalo Bill Museum
Historic interpreters Javan and Susan Ridge will be visiting the Buffalo Bill Museum this afternoon, acting the parts of Buffalo Bill and his wife, Louisa Cody. They will give 20 minute presentations. The presentations will be held outdoors, and do not require the museum admission fee.
At 1 and 3PM, Buffalo Bill will tell us about “Lucretia”, the buffalo gun that made Cody a champion. Bill will describe how his highly trained horse, his buffalo driving technique, and his newly remanufactured Trap Door Springfield rifle provided the perfect solutions for the difficult task of buffalo hunting. He will describe how the rifle was a great technological improvement over muzzle loading weapons and how it gave him an added advantage in the competition which gave him rights to the title “Buffalo Bill”.
At 2 and 4PM, Louisa will describe “My life with Buffalo Bill.” Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be married to a world-traveling celebrity? Lulu Cody discusses life with Buffalo Bill from a wife’s point of view.
