The Downtown Development Authority (DDA) will meet tonight at 6:30 at the Public Works Building, at 1445 10th St. They will consider several funding requests.
Oh Susannah Vintage Photo Studio had a facility in the Buffalo Rose until it closed for renovation. They have now leased the former Nature’s Gift candle shop on Washington Avenue. They plan to invest several thousand dollars to upgrade the facade and have requested a facade grant to defray some of the cost. The Grants Committee recommends matching up to $2000 of the business’s expenses for exterior improvements.
Miners Alley Playhouse will request assistance of $10,000 to defray the nearly $72,000 annual rent that they pay to Mesa Meadows.
The Golden Visitors Center will request a $15,000 contribution towards their $74,500 2019 budget. With this (shoestring) budget and with the help of dozens of volunteers, they welcome 57,000 visitors to Golden annually.
The Colorado Environmental Film Festival will request $3,000 to defray the cost of their annual event, which occurs every February, during Heart and Soul of Golden month. City staff and the Grants Committee recommend discontinuing this annual contribution.
