The Community Marketing group will review the media plan for the remainder of the year, applying for a Tourism Marketing Grant from the Colorado Tourism office, expenses & revenue, and service agreements with the consultants who support the program. This program is not funded out of the City's general fund: it is funded by a vendor's fee (paid by the merchants), which generates about $600k/year.
The City's Marketing manager left several months ago. The committee members have proposed restructuring this program so that–instead of being managed by a city employee–it would be spun off into a stand-alone non-profit organization with a board. The new manager (who would report to the new non-profit) would have a more in-person presence, visiting and listening to local businesses. City Council will begin discussing this proposal at next week's meeting.
