About Those Helicopters:
You may have heard that Xcel was planning to replace some poles and cables today on South Table Mountain. It sounds interesting–they’ll be using a helicopter to bring in the poles! The power will be down for several hours in the area near the work.
However, late yesterday afternoon, Xcel distributed a follow-up notice saying that they were delaying the work because of high winds. Whenever it happens, it will be fun to watch. I’ll let you know if I learn of a replacement date.

Golden History Moment
In 1970, Golden’s library was moved out of the municipal building and into a new building next door, at 923 10th Street. The April 6, 1970 Golden Transcript announced that the Golden Gardeners Club had received a check for $200 from Sears, Roebuck & Co. to plant a garden around the new building.
In 1996, the Library, needing more space, moved into the former recreation center next door. The Golden History Museum now occupies the former library building. The garden remains, now maintained by a dedicated group of volunteers/museum members. It gets prettier every year.
Thanks to the Golden History Museum for providing the online cache of historic Transcripts, and to the Golden Transcript for documenting our history since 1866!
