The May 2, 1929 Colorado Transcript includes ads for long-gone businesses. They don’t include photographs, but I enjoy picturing where they were located. So here they are! The Golden Gem Theater was located in the building that now houses Red Silo Coffee Roasters (map). The Hotel Berrimoor is now the Table Mountain Inn (map).

Linder Hardware was located where Indulge Bistro and Wine Bar is (map). The building at 12th and Washington, which now houses Golden Goods (map), contained several businesses, including the Rubey Bank, the Golden Building & Loan Association, an insurance agency, and Robinson’s Bookstore. Ellis Department Store was one of several stores in the Opera House building–now the Ace Hi Tavern (map). City Tailor Shop was located in the building that now hold the Golden Game Guild (map).

Thanks to the Golden History Museum for providing the online cache of historic Transcripts, and to the Golden Transcript for documenting our history since 1866!
