Golden History Moment

Flood on Jackson Street – June, 1966 – photo by Bill Robie – enlarge

Last week’s Transcript photo of a kayaker on 12th Street inspired Bill Robie to send me this photo of flooding on Jackson Street. Bill caught a narrow window of time. The Food King grocery store shown in the photo was open only from February of 1966 to February of 1967. At that time, the store was acquired by King Soopers. It’s now US Bank.

Thanks to the Golden History Museum for providing the online cache of historic Transcripts, and to the Golden Transcript for documenting our history since 1866!
