Today and tomorrow are Golden Pride Days. Bring your unwanted stuff to the City shops at 1300 Catamount Drive (map) between 8 and 3:30, and city workers will take it off your hands. They will accept household trash, electronic waste, paper to be shredded, metal, tires, and tree brush. They will NOT accept propane tanks, batteries, pharmaceuticals, or hazardous waste. For a limited time, they will also come to your house to pick up large appliances. See the city website for the details on that.
Today is the first OFFICIAL Super Cruise of the season, so you can expect to see classic cars buzzing around town all day. South Golden Road will be packed, so if you’re not interested in the cars, try another route, like Johnson Road. The cars usually concentrate at South Golden Road, but tonight, a radio station is giving away a restored 1968 Camaro at the Buffalo Rose between 8 and 11, so a lot of the cars may be downtown during that event.
The Golden Concert Choir is performing at Golden High School tonight at 7:30. We have a great collaboration with Opera On Tap this semester. Love! Death! Drinking! All are hallmarks of opera and are included on our program, including the Habañera from Carmen, the Gypsy chorus from Il Trovatore (also known as the Anvil Chorus!), and the famous drinking song from La Traviata.
Urban Backyard is showing The Breakfast Club tonight at 8:30. It’s the 30th anniversary for the movie.
