Are your kids’ sweaters too pretty? The Library can help you with that. They’re having an Ugly Sweater Workshop from 4-5PM. Take your craft skills to the next level at Golden Workshop Wednesdays! Once a month we create with a wide range of textile materials and learn new creative hands-on techniques in the process. Please register every participating child between the ages of 8 to 12.
Bent Gate will present author Rob Writz from 6:30-7:30 this evening. Rob will share details from his new book, Guidebook for Berthoud Pass.
The Mobility and Transportation Advisory Board (MTAB) will meet at 6PM in City Council Chambers. On December 5th, the Planning Commission held a public hearing on a proposed redevelopment of the Briarwood Inn property at the west end of 8th Street. The developer plans to build 72 apartments and 48 hotel rooms. Many residents of the 8th & 9th Street neighborhood spoke during the public comment period, expressing alarm about the increasing population density and traffic on 8th Street and the parallel streets. The Planning Commission advised the developer to speak to MTAB, to see whether they could come up with ways to mitigate the traffic. That discussion will happen tonight. There will be a public comment period at the beginning of the meeting, followed by a study session. The developer will return to the Planning Commission with the project in February.
The Planning Commission will have a study session (no public comment) tonight at 6:30 at the Public Works Building, 1445 10th St. They will discuss strengthening the City’s small animal regulations (chickens, geese, goats, etc.). While not “small” animals, horses will also be discussed.
They will also review Golden’s Annexation Plan. This Plan always makes interesting reading, as it details what sort of future development the City expects. For instance, many people are hoping that the property immediately north of the City boundary on Highway 93 might be acquired as Open Space, but it’s currently marked for Mineral Extraction, Office/Light Industrial/R&D, and Rural Residential. This document doesn’t dictate the future, but it’s interesting to see what the planners are expecting. Learn more by reading the meeting packet….
