Golden History Moment

Buffalo Rose, 5 Years Ago – Dave Powers – enlarge

My friend, Dave Powers, took these pictures on February 7, 2018. The Buffalo Rose was undergoing a massive remodeling at that time, and it was a fascinating opportunity to see interior walls that hadn’t seen daylight for nearly a century.

Earlier incarnations of the Buffalo Rose buildings – enlarge

The several buildings that make up the present-day Buffalo Rose have served as restaurants and bars, a barber shop, department store, roller skating rink, swimming pool, and garage. The next time you visit the Rose, look for the plaques that describe those earlier uses!

The architect’s rendering (shown above) appeared on the fence that surrounded the building during construction. The photo below (Google images) shows the final product.

Thanks to the Golden History Museum for providing the online cache of historic Transcripts, and to the Golden Transcript for documenting our history since 1866!
