Grover Coors discusses Coors Rosebud Pottery
When Colorado enacted Prohibition in 1916, Coors Brewery shut down, but Coors Porcelain Company kept Golden workers employed by making commercial ceramics. The Rosebud pottery line, introduced in 1934, featured 49 colorful pieces for cooking, baking, serving and dining. A master mold-maker carved the Rosebud pattern to give each piece one-of-a-kind character . Today, the Rosebud Honeypot remains a valuable and hard-to-find collectible.
CoorsTek recently commissioned the reproduction of the Honeypot, including its rare porcelain spoon, using production methods virtually unchanged for a century. Dr. Grover Coors, great-grandson of the company’s founder, will present a brief history of Rosebud pottery. Gary Carter, master mold-maker for CoorsTek, will describe the complete process of producing the Honeypot. Make your reservation today at FoothillsArtCenter.org.
