Fall Festival
Applewood Valley United Methodist Church (2035 Ellis Street – map) is having a Fall Festival this afternoon from 1-3PM. They’ll have carnival games, arts & crafts, face painting, a bouncy house, candy, and prizes! Costumes encouraged. It’s free and everyone is invited.
Symphony Concert
The Jefferson Symphony will play their first concert of the season this afternoon at 3PM in the Green Center. They will play Tragic Overture by Brahms, Enigma Variations by Elgar, and Symphony No. 5 by Beethoven. Learn more….
Oktoberfest
Enjoy a Himalayan Oktoberfest this evening from 5-8PM. Learn about the Sherpa people of Nepal, meet Sherpas who have summited Everest, eat food catered by the Sherpa House and sample craft beer from Nepal’s first craft brewery, the Sherpa Brewing Company, which partners with Golden City Brewing. The event is free but donations are most welcome.

Heritage Road Design Meeting
Tomorrow night (Monday 10/23) from 6-8PM, there will be a public meeting about the engineering review done on the Heritage Road roundabouts and other traffic calming design features. Engineers from Bohannan Huston will be at a public meeting to discuss their review and the results. This will not be an open house: there will be a presentation, followed by Q&A. The meeting will be held at Shelton Elementary, 420 Crawford Street (map). Learn more….
Apollo 15 Astronaut Lecture
Tomorrow night (10/23) at 6PM, Astronaut Al Worden, one of only 24 humans to fly to the moon, will recount his experience as the Apollo 15 command module pilot. Worden flew alongside Commander Dave Scott and lunar module pilot Jim Irwin on the first mission with the Lunar Roving Vehicle in July 1971. He performed the first deep space walk and still holds the record for the “most remote human being ever.” Worden’s lecture is free and open to the public and will take place in Bunker Auditorium at the Green Center.
