Golden History Moment
53 Years Ago construction was underway for the Old Miners Inn on the south side of Clear Creek, west of Highway 6 (Google maps). The property was annexed into the City in December of 1969. According to the October 24, 1969 Golden Transcript, the Inn included “40 units plus a lounge and restaurant.”
The buildings are still there, and the 40 Inn rooms have since been converted to 21 condos. I toured one about 10 years ago, when it was for sale. It was about 700 square feet, one large room downstairs and one upstairs, connect by a spiral staircase. It had nice views out to the trees along the Creek, and the price was $99,000. According to Zillow, they’re currently worth about $200K.
Thanks to the Golden History Museum for providing the online cache of historic Transcripts, and to the Golden Transcript for documenting our history since 1866!
