The Stinky Place
There has been a spirited discussion lately on Nextdoor regarding the stench coming from the wastewater treatment plant. When my daughter was little, she called it “The Stinky Place.” The smell hasn’t improved in the 20+ years since then, and many residents think it’s worse than usual this summer. The City has addressed the issue on Guiding Golden, saying that it’s outside the City limits and operated by Coors, not the City of Golden.

If you’re bothered by the stench, here are two steps you can take: 1) Call Coors’ Odor Complaint Hotline (303-277-2112) and leave a message, telling them that they have a problem. 2) Call the Colorado Public Health Department (303-232-6301) and ask them to check the odor from the wastewater treatment plant to verify that it is in compliance with their operating permit.
