Golden History Moment

Colorado Transcript – January 31, 1963

The January 31, 1963 Colorado Transcript reported that Foss Drug Store was beginning a year-long celebration of the store’s golden anniversary. The paper told of Henry Foss, Sr. purchasing the store in 1913. In the early days, the store grossed $100 on a good day. Many expansions and service improvements took place over the years and by 1963, the store was grossing $1.5 million/year.

That issue of the paper included several articles about Foss topics, including their new parking lot, their photo department, the Carriage Room restaurant, worker benefits, the cosmetics department, the warehouse, and the card and candy departments.
