Golden History Moment
85 Years Ago
The October 8, 1936 Colorado Transcript announced that Woods Mortuary was expanding. The owner was buying the building next door. The increased space allowed for an enlarged chapel, three new “slumber rooms,” and a bigger sales area (coffins). The second floor was being converted into apartments.
The owner added a common facade at the street level, to unify the look of the buildings. The advertisement above shows only that first floor facade.
The current remodeling work shows where the original brickwork was cut away to make room for that peak over the door.

New Parks Added to Lyft Partnership for Rideshare Discount
To help with parking congestion at some of our busiest Front Range trailheads and access points, we are giving park visitors the opportunity to take advantage of reduced fares from Lyft. We recently added the following park trailheads to the list of reduced fare locations:
- North Table Mountain Park – West Trailhead
- White Ranch Park – East Trailhead
- South Table Mountain Park – Camp George West Trailhead
- South Table Mountain Park – Golden Hills Access
- Mount Falcon Park – Morrison Trailhead
- Van Bibber Park – East & West Trailheads
- Matthews/Winters Park
- Dino Ridge Visitor Center
- Crown Hill Park
Through December 31, Lyft users can take advantage of a $2.50 reduction in their fare each direction with code JCOS2021 in the “rewards” section of the Lyft app. Discounts will be valid during park hours, seven days a week, to the four locations listed above. These locations were selected based upon visitor volume, available designated parking, reducing neighborhood/overflow parking, and illegal parking. Additional variables such as cell service and driver availability were also considered.
