The March 30, 1950 Colorado Transcript celebrated the grand re-opening of the Conoco station at 13th and Washington. The business had been operating at that location for about 25 years, but the new building included “…inside facilities for the washing and lubrication departments, other modern equipment and rest rooms. Other new equipment includes the most up-to-date pumps.”

The Conoco remained in business until 1972, when the then-operator moved over to run the Sinclair station at 12th and Ford. The Sinclair station had been built in 1956.

The former Conoco was significantly remodeled by the next occupants, Golden State Bank. They added dark siding and a Mansard roof of cedar shakes.

When the Icelantic company purchased the site in 2015, they remodeled again, taking the building back to its 1950s gas station look.
