The Boston Company, located at 10th and Washington, now part of Parfet Park. Notice the pale outline of Castle Rock on the right. - Click to enlarge

This photo shows some of Golden’s earliest settlers. The men of the Boston Company arrived in Golden in June of 1859. They came with wagonloads of goods to sell and built one of our first store buildings on the north side of the Creek, in what is now Parfet Park. Look around the park the next time you’re there and see if you can spot the marker that commemorates the site of this building.

The photo shows the Boston Company building later in its life, when it served as a private residence. It was demolished in 1927 to make way for the park..
