Enjoy some great Blues this afternoon at the Buffalo Rose. This is the opening round of a competition, with the winners going to Memphis for the International Blues Competition. Round 2 will be held April 17th in Longmont, and the final round will be back here in Golden, at the Buffalo Rose, on May 1st. The doors open at 1 today, with performances starting at 2. Admission is $10, with all proceeds going to pay the winners’ travel expenses to the finals in Memphis. The Buffalo Rose is located at 1119 Washington Avenue.
Tomorrow night (Monday April 4th), you are invited to join an evening of conversation on The Syrian War with Robin Yassin-Kassab and Leila Al-Shami authors of Burning Country: Syrians in Revolution and War Pluto Press (2016). Robin Yassin-Kassab is the author of the novel The Road from Damascus. Leila Al-Shami was a founding member of Tahrir-ICN a network connecting anti-authoritarian struggles across the Middle East, North Africa and Europe. The talk will be held at 7PM, at the Colorado School of Mines Ben H. Parker Student Center, Maple Street (map).
