Dave Powers Photography - Golden Colorado
You’re probably familiar with Dave Powers’ photography, because so much of his work has appeared on  From now until the end of June, you can see an exhibit of his work at Cafe 13 in the Armory Building.  This collection focuses on Golden, so you’ll see many familiar sites, such as the Kayak Park, Farmers Market, the Super Cruise, the Jeffco Rodeo, and lots more.  You won’t want to miss this show!

Foothills Art Center has two exhibits right now.  Variations on Growth features the organic sculptures of Ben Butler and is on display until July 25th.  The Colorado Watercolor Society Exhibit is an annual juried event showing the best water media artists in the state.  That exhibit will be up until June 25th.

Cabaret at Miners Alley is drawing rave reviews, including this one from Westword.  Those tickets are selling fast (the whole opening weekend was sold out), so if you hope to see this play, buy your tickets now.

Golden Eagles in Golden Colorado
The City is looking for community input on a proposed art installation for the new bridge over Highway 6 at 19th Street.  A local stone sculptor has submitted a proposal to create two golden eagles to stand on the bridge towers.  The cost will be $100,000, with another ~$100K of in-kind costs to be donated by the city.  If you want to weigh in on this proposal, you may attend the Public Art Commission meeting on Thursday June 1st at 9AM in City Council Chambers, or email your comments to PublicArt@cityofgolden.netLearn more about the proposed installation….

Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum - Golden Colorado
The Quilt Museum has two exhibits on display right now.  Under the Western Sun is a juried exhibit featuring Western subjects by Western artists.  As the perfect complement to this, the other exhibit is Quilting the Wild West and features quilts commemorating Buffalo Bill Cody and the Wild West.  This is part of the year-long commemoration of Bill Cody’s life, death, and internment on Lookout Mountain.
