Graduation, Parades, and More

Colorado School of Mines - Golden Colorado

Congratulations to the people graduating from the Colorado School of Mines today! Undergraduates will receive their degrees at a 9AM ceremony and graduate degrees will be conferred at 3PM. Both ceremonies will take place in Lockridge Arena in the Student Recreation Center.

The Library is having a Toddler Dance Party this morning at 11:15.

The pool at the Community Center will re-open today, after being closed for several weeks for maintenance work.

The Rock Rest Lodge is having an Ugliest Sweater party tonight at 9PM.

The Golden Gate Grange (map) is holding a Karaoke Christmas Sing tonight from 6:30-8. No reservations are needed. The lyrics will be on a big screen TV. The event is free, and everyone is invited. Optionally, feel free to bring cookies to share.

Santa's Mailbox at the Golden Visitors Center

Today is the LAST day to bring a letter to Santa to his mailbox at the Visitors Center (10th & Washington). Bring one today (and include a return address) and Santa will respond.

Saturday
Tomorrow is the LAST Olde Golden Christmas parade for the year, and the LAST day for free carriage rides. The parade starts at 10:30 and the carriage rides run from 12-3.

Casey Brown will have Cocktails with a Councilor tomorrow afternoon at 3PM at the miners Saloon, 1109 Miners Alley.

GCC Pools to close Oct. 21 to mid-December for mechanical room renovations

As of October 21, 2017, the Golden Community Center Aquatics Area (that’s both swimming pools and the hot tub) will be closed for a major renovation of the mechanical room. The closure is expected to last through mid-December…  Read more…

The Golden Community Center will be closed starting August 28 through September 1 for regular maintenance and cleaning.

In addition, the Community Center will be closed on Monday, September 4, in observance of Labor Day.

Lock in GCC prices for 2017 now through Dec. 31

Art and Music and a Beautiful Day in Golden

The Community Center will be closed tomorrow through the 28th, so if you have a desperate need to work out, better do it today.

Golden Fine Arts Festival

This is the second and final day of the Fine Arts Festival.  The weather is beautiful, and the art is fantastic, so make sure you get there between 10 and 5 today.  There’s live music too:  Smith House will be playing from 10-1, and Golden’s own Thunder and Rain will be on stage from 1:30-4:30.

Jefferson Symphony Orchestra in Parfet Park

Tonight is a real treat:  the Jefferson Symphony Orchestra AND John Akal’s Ultraphonic Orchestra will play a FREE concert in Parfet Park at 6:30.  Bring a lawn chair or a blanket and enjoy a great community event.
