Birder Night

Birds in Jefferson County - Golden Colorado

Attention Birders:
Jeffco Open Space is holding an open house tonight from 6-7:30 in the Open Space Office (700 Jefferson County Parkway – map). Stop by the Jeffco Open Space office any time to mingle fellow birders, find out about the birds in Jefferson County, sign up for volunteer opportunities and more!

Visit with Hawkquest’s four live education birds, mingle with fellow birders and sign up for the Big Year Jeffco, 2018. Partners include Naturalists from Bear Creek Lake Park, Evergreen Audubon Society, Denver Audubon Society and educators from the Lookout Mountain Nature Center and Natural Resources Teams.

Don’t forget tonight’s Jeffco Innovators Workshop (6-7:30 at City Hall). Denver attorney Darin Gibby will discuss his books, “Why Has America Stopped Inventing?” and “Chasing Hindy.”

At 10:30 tomorrow morning, Jefferson County will have a farewell celebration for Jefferson County Commissioner Donald Rosier.  The event takes place in the courthouse (map).

At 5:30 tomorrow night, the City will host a reception honoring the outgoing City Councilors (Joe Behm, Pamela Gould, and Marcia Claxton) and welcoming the new ones (Jim Dale, Paul Haseman, and Robert Reed).

Golden Lifts Moratorium on New Special Events

Council update

Hello everyone, I have a few interesting items that I wanted to share.

First, the “Golden Well-Being Study Community Forum” is this Saturday, at City Hall, 911 10th Street from 10 am to noon. This forum will include a data report from a statistically valid survey from Gallup, combined with a series of focus groups, that measured Golden resident’s level sense of purpose, social support, financial health, community connectedness and physical health…  Read more…

Decision on street closure postponed

A decision on permanently closing a portion of Arapahoe Street between 13th and 14th streets has been postponed until March 10.

The reason for the delay is because the applicant, the Calvary Episcopal Church, requested a continuance to work out some parking requirements outlined in the application…  Read more….

Council will hold a public hearing during their regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 10 in the City Hall Council Chambers, 911 10th St., to review an application requesting a vacation of a portion of Arapahoe Street between 13th and 14th Streets. On Nov. 3, Golden voters chose Casey Brown to be the new councilor for District 2, which covers most of the northern portion of the city.
