February is Heart and Soul of Golden month. During the month, Golden Cultural Alliance members will offer all sorts of fun events, designed to get you out of the house. The Railroad Museum is planning something that sounds like a blast: “Date on the Diner.”
Guests are invited to celebrate Valentine’s Day with the Colorado Railroad Museum. This will be a mid-century themed affair and period dress is encouraged. Seating will begin at 4:30pm with dinner served at 5:00pm followed by a short theatrical performance. Both dinner and the performance will occur on our beautiful Union Pacific Dining Car.
Ticket includes dinner, desert, beer, wine, or soft drinks, and other “goodies.” Tickets include regular admission and a ride,* We encourage you to arrive early to enjoy the Museum exhibits, pose for photos with historic rail equipment and take a ride on our Galloping Goose before the show starts. Tomorrow (Tuesday December 5th) is Colorado Gives Day, which an annual statewide movement to celebrate and increase philanthropy in Colorado through online giving. To encourage people to donate on this particular day, there is a $1 million incentive fund, which is split up amongst the organizations that receive donations on Colorado Gives Day.

The Railroad Museum is having their monthly Storytime and Craft this morning at 10AM.
The Library has their monthly Book Group tonight from 6-7PM. They will be discussing Being a Beast: Adventures Across the Species Divide, by Charles Foster.
New Terrain Brewing Company has Yoga on Tap tonight from 6-7PM. The class costs $16 at the door and includes a beer or kombucha afterwards.

The Railroad Museum has a Steam Train going today, so it’s a good day to visit and take a ride!
Visit the Golden City Brewery today to enjoy their 19th annual ChiliFest, which is a benefit for the food bank at the Christian Action Guild. They’ll have 15 chili cooks and at least 3 chili beers. The event starts at noon and runs till 5PM…or until they run out of chili!
Mountain Side Gear Rental (map) is collecting coats, backpacks, and warm sleeping gear for Jefferson County’s homeless families. Almost 3,000 children are homeless in our county, so youth-size clothing is particularly welcome. Please bring your contributions between 10AM and 2PM today. You’re welcome to stay for a while for food and beverages and to meet the agencies that dedicate their time and efforts to end homelessness in Jefferson County. The March to the Ballot Box will meet at the library at 1PM to walk over to the City Hall and VOTE! Fill out your ballot and plan to join them.
Jefferson County CSU Extension Service is celebrating 100 years today–wow! Join them tonight from 5:30-8:30 at the Fairgrounds. “Foods to Mingle Over … History to Visit … Future to Enjoy” Live music provided by Grasping at Straws. Tickets are $15 per person with a cash bar.

The Railroad Museum will have a spectacular model railroad on display today in the picnic pavilion. Enjoy the sights and sounds of classic toy trains from 1925 to the present, including Lionel, MTH, Williams, Big Boys, Challengers, The Blue Comet, Northerns, The Ski Train & a model of the Galloping Goose! The Museum is open from 9-5 today.
Calvary Church, which is the last of Golden’s old downtown churches, is celebrating their 150th anniversary by offering tours every Saturday and Sunday from noon-2PM during September.
