Sustainability, Teacher Recognition, Kidnapping and Murder

The Sustainability Board meets tonight at 6:30 in City Council Chambers.  They’ll be giving the City Manager a briefing of their recent accomplishments and plans for coming year.  If you’re curious about this board, this is a good chance to understand what they’re about.  The meeting will be shown live on the City’s website.

Teacher Recognition Awards

Do you know a special teacher who demonstrates a contagious enthusiasm for teaching and learning? Who regularly inspires all students to take on new challenges and to recognize their full potential? Have you met a teacher who thinks outside the box and advances new approaches to teaching and learning?

Golden Schools Foundation is holding the 5th annual Golden Teacher Recognition Awards to reward and encourage excellence in teaching at our eight local neighborhood schools. These Golden schools include Mitchell, Kyffin, Pleasant View, Shelton, Ralston, and Welchester Elementary, Bell Middle, and Golden High School.

Two winning teachers will be awarded $1,000 each, a crystal apple, and recognition at their school. They will also be acknowledged in local press/newspapers and among the Golden community. Winning teachers will also be featured on our website showcase of winners.  Learn more….

Tomorrow night (3/31) at 6PM, Dennis Potter will be at the Golden History Center, recounting the horrifying tale of Adolph Coors III’s kidnapping and murder in 1960.  Mr. Potter is a good lecturer, so this will be an interesting talk.  Due to the graphic nature of the topic, the talk is only open to ages 15 and older.  Tickets are available online or at the door.  Learn more….
