Tonight’s consent agenda includes a resolution “Adopting A Revised Fund Balance/Reserve Policy.”

Council will read three proclamations: Earth Day, Public Service Recognition, and Teacher Appreciation Week.
They will present sustainability awards to the Christian Action Guild, Golden Real Estate, and Bean Fosters.
They will begin considering “a two year pilot project to operate driverless transit vehicles (the EZ10) within predefined routes on Golden City streets.”
They will consider an appeal regarding the Planning Commission’s denial of a plan to build two side by side duplexes at 5th and Arapahoe.
They will consider a request by Indulge Bistro and Wine Bar at 13th and Washington to put a permanent soft material awning over the public sidewalk and right of way on 13th St.
They will hear a financial report on the 1st quarter of 2021.
They will hold two public hearings:
A Supplemental Appropriation Ordinance Changing The 2021 Budget For Carryover And Additional Appropriation Requests, and An Ordinance Of City Council Of The City Of Golden Amending Chapter 18.40 Of The Golden Municipal Code Pertaining To Sustainability Requirements For Site Plan Approval Of Multifamily And Commercial Projects.
They will consider repealing Golden’s emergency ordinance regarding face coverings and instead deferring to the County’s and State’s public health orders.
Mayor Weinberg will announce the new board and commission members.

Golden History Moment

88 Years Ago
Based on the April 20, 1933 Colorado Transcript, the mood in town was decidedly upbeat. The town was still celebrating the repeal of Prohibition and the reopening of Coors Brewery. Production was up to 500 barrels a day, and the pent-up demand was apparently endless. Adolph Coors Jr. told the Transcript that he considered legalized beer as a relief measure and felt he had a responsibility to reinvest all profits in creating jobs

One brief article told of Alphonse Thuet Senior, who had managed hospitality at the brewery from 1889 till Prohibition went into effect in 1916. He was now able to return to dispensing hospitality (and beer!).

The company was also inviting Jefferson County farmers to get barley seed at the brewery.

Stewart’s Grocery Store ad that week included a list of foods that would go well with Legalized BEER! (Suggestions included pretzels, liverwurst, olives, and cheese.)

Coors Porcelain made the paper too, as described in the article, “Women Enthusiastic Over Coors Porcelain Display at Linder’s.” It reported that women were delighted at Linder Hardware’s display of Coors Thermo Porcelain, which was attractive china that went from refrigerator to oven to table.
