The cornerstone of Calvary Church was laid in October of 1867. By September of 1868, the building had been "so far completed as to render it fit for occupation." There were many details still underway, and the congregation was busily raising money for finishing work and furnishings.

"Harrison Hall" was the second story of this building. Google Street Images

The January 6, 1869 Colorado Transcript describes a fund-raising festival organized by the ladies of the church. It was held in the newly-completed "Harrison's Hall," which was the second story of 1204-1210 Washington Avenue.

Harrison's Hall was very tastefully decorated, and the tables well filled with refreshments and articles of usefulness. Every auxiliary that the fertile ingenuity of woman could devise to make a dollar, was found there in the shape of raffles, post-office, soothsayer, fish-pond, &c., &c. ...The hall was crowded from early in the evening till near midnight, everybody enjoying themselves to the fullest extent, leaving behind them as a testimonial of the pleasure the snug little sum of $151,60 net profit.
