Storytime, Solar and Bees, DeLong Park

7:30AM – Downtown Merchants Meeting at Connects Workspace .


10AM – Director’s Storytime and Craft at the Colorado Railroad Museum. Join fellow young train enthusiasts, in collaboration with the Golden Public Library, for a morning of rail stories and make-and-take crafts. Recommended ages 4-6 years old. Free for Museum Members and $2 for nonmembers with general admission. The Museum’s Executive Director, Donald Tallman, will be retiring at the end of this month. Their new Executive Director (Paul Hammond) has already started, so if you’re lucky, you’ll get to see them both today! This month’s book is that perennial favorite, Thomas the Tank Engine, by Reverend W. Awdry.


12PM – Power Lunch Lecture at NREL: Can solar power, agriculture, and beehives coexist? By Jordan Macknick, NREL Lead Energy-Water-Land Analyst

Declines in honeybee populations and an increase in the use of agricultural land for solar have led to concerns about the future of farming. Learn how a local NREL project is helping farming, raising bees, and producing solar power coexist.

6PM – Golden Library Tuesday Night Book Group: An American Marriage by Tayari Jones


7PM – The Parks, Recreation, and Museums Advisory Board will meet tonight in City Council Chambers. They will discuss the planning process for the new DeLong Park on 23rd Street, and will consider dates for a public input meeting. They will also look for dates for a tour of Golden’s Open Space parcels. The Parks Director, Rod Tarullo, will give a report on the various projects currently underway in his department.

This Sunday, GoFarm will be hosting a Greenhouse Raiser on a vacant lot in the Goosetown neighborhood. They are looking for volunteers to work 3-hour shifts.
